Nice photobomb, eh?

With not much winter in Calgary, we sought out some snow in Banff National Park this weekend with an invitation to ride the Banff Gondola to the top of Sulphur Mountain and have a chance to get closer to the North Pole.

We found snow, we got to put on mittens and hats and scarves, and we settled in for some Christmas spirit.

We took the scenic ride up 2900 ft. on the Banff Gondola and stepped into Santa’s Workshop. They’ve got some magic going on here with scavenger hunts for the kids, cookie decorating, picture frame building, a visit with Santa, and a chance to relax in the Above Banff Theatre with a favourite Christmas film.

And of course there’s the view.

You might also want to tie in a festive brunch, lunch or dinner at Sky Bistro, pack your own snacks, or grab something quick at Northern Lights Cafe or Castle Mountain Coffee.

While there’s lots to do inside, the view is really the star of the show, so make sure you wander the boardwalk, explore the patios, and really pause to take in what so many around the world put on the top of their bucket list.

You can experience the Christmas spirit at the Banff Gondola now until January 7, 2018.

Disclosure: We were given complimentary gondola tickets from Pursuit
