Rochon Sands Provincial Park near Stettler, on the shores of Buffalo Lake is a simple place to escape. Don’t expect luxury camping at Rochon Sands (unlike spots nearby) and that’s a good thing.
Tunnel Mountain Campground in Banff National Park just might be my favorite quick camping getaway from Calgary. Just 75 minutes out of town, it’s a perfect home place to explore Banff, and the hikes, trails, and excursions in the area. CLICK THE IMAGE TO READ THE POST.
Aspen Beach Provincial Park has one of the best beaches near Calgary. It is a huge campground next to the long beach with a sloping shoreline. The beach is perfect, but the campground is different. The weekend we went it was filled with partiers. That’s fine, if you like to do that, but when I go camping with the kids I look for something more low key.
