[twitter]THE BREWERY: Tap It Brewing from San Luis Obispo, California
Tap It Brewing is a family owned and operated microbrewery known for fine handcrafted ales, brewed locally in San Luis Obispo. As a team, our goal is to produce fresh and distinguishable, all-American beers that are deliciously unforgettable. We like to take a laid-back approach to almost everything we do, but there’s one thing we’re absolutely serious about: our beer. THE BEER: India Pale Ale
“We utilize the avant-garde method of First Wort Hopping, the technique of adding hops to the kettle before boil. This creates a harmonious explosion of hop aroma and flavor noticeable throughout the tasting experience. Fragrances of tangerine and grapefruit entice the nose. A thick hazy rich head leads drinkers toward an experience rich in citrus and earthy flavors ending with a smooth, sticky finish. The complex floral and citrusy tones from Citra and Simcoe hops welcome you, while two more hop varietals mate smoothly with four malt varieties for an unmatched aroma. Altogether, a crisp pleasurable full bodied taste.”
TASTING NOTES: via 2013 Craft Beer Advent Calendar
Made with two of the hottest hops on the market today, Citra and Simcoe, this golden nectar will fill your mouth with tropical fruit flavours. Pineapple. Mango. Passionfruit. But a lingering hop bitterness in the finish will remind you that this ain’t fruit punch. Beer simply does not get much better than this. If you enjoyed this beer, try Ruckus Hoptimus Prime from New York and Townsite Tinhat IPA from Powell River
MY REVIEW: 4/5 on Untappd
That is some citrus in that IPA. Fresh bright on the front and then hopping on the finish. A lot of bite and I’m not a hoppy guy but this one has a nice sweet tart balance.

I first came across Tap it Brewery when I went to San Luis Obispo back in 2004. I remember their India Pale Ale as being very nice indeed. Wouldn’t mind trying some more again one day.
