Always have a race on the calendar. It’s my training motto borrowed from Glengarry Glen Ross. Without a race on my calendar, I don’t train. As much as I know I need to keep active and engaged, with nothing to train for, I won’t.

So I always have a race on the calendar. That’s how Team Diabetes works for me. The moment I get back from one event, inspired by my friend Harry Flint, I’m plotting the next.

Team Diabetes unveils their schedule well in advance to give you the time to plan your training, fundraising, and holiday time. Here we are just starting 2017 and they’re starting to pull the covers back on the 2018 Team Diabetes season.

And you can also “Choose Your Own Adventure.” I’ve teamed up with a few Team Diabetes alumni friends to run the Big 5 Marathon in June 2018.

Always be … is an apt motto to have when it comes to diabetes. It’s a chronic, always on disease. Every bit of exercise, every bit of food, everything you do as a diabetic means you’re thinking like a pancreas and you’re always on.
