Always have a race on the calendar. It’s my training motto borrowed from Glengarry Glen Ross. Without a race on my calendar, I don’t train. As much as I know I need to keep active and engaged, with nothing to train for, I won’t.
So I always have a race on the calendar. That’s how Team Diabetes works for me. The moment I get back from one event, inspired by my friend Harry Flint, I’m plotting the next.
Always have a race on the calendar.
Team Diabetes unveils their schedule well in advance to give you the time to plan your training, fundraising, and holiday time. Here we are just starting 2017 and they’re starting to pull the covers back on the 2018 Team Diabetes season.
Here are some of the races to look for:
2018 Run For Fun Cruise – Southern Carribean – February 24, 2018
2018 Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon – Reykjavik, Iceland – August 16, 2018
2018 SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon & Wicklow Mountain Hike – Dublin, Ireland – October 30, 2018
And you can also “Choose Your Own Adventure.” I’ve teamed up with a few Team Diabetes alumni friends to run the Big 5 Marathon in June 2018.
Always be … is an apt motto to have when it comes to diabetes. It’s a chronic, always on disease. Every bit of exercise, every bit of food, everything you do as a diabetic means you’re thinking like a pancreas and you’re always on.
To make life a little easier, Ascensia Diabetes Care was recently issued a Health Canada license CONTOUR® NEXT ONE blood glucose monitoring system (BGMS) in Canada. As part of the system, the CONTOUR® NEXT ONE meter and CONTOUR® DIABETES App seamlessly connect to allow the app to capture the meter’s remarkably accurate blood glucose readings.
Not only does the CONTOUR® NEXT ONE system simplify diabetes management and help make it easier for more people with diabetes to use their smartphone to manage their condition, it has also been demonstrated to be one of the most accurate systems to date from Ascensia Diabetes Care.
The CONTOUR® DIABETES App presents blood glucose readings in a simple, intuitive and easy-to-review way, which may help improve a patient’s engagement with and understanding of their results. The system is also designed to evolve in the future, bringing new capabilities and features to help people with diabetes manage their condition.
Diabetes is always on. I’m always raising money. I’m always training. I’m always advocating.
What about you? How will you support the cause? Where will you go? Get a Team Diabetes race on your calendar.
Always be … Trust me, it works.
